I opened my eyes slowly, squinting slightly as I adjust my sight to the golden rays of the sun permeating through the curtains in our bedroom. I checked my phone placed on the night table. It was still 7:15 am. I heaved a sigh of relief. I thought I overslept since I forgot to set the alarm before I went to sleep.
Waking early in the morning , especially on weekends, gave me this sense of joy. When I overslept I felt that part of my day was wasted and time is not something you could earn back. I want to be proactive, but in a way that I could savour the allotted free time doing things that I love like cooking and writing.
Speaking about cooking and food, breakfast is my favourite part of the day. I always look forward to a good breakfast and weekends are the perfect way to relish that.
“All happiness depends on a leisurely breakfast” – John Gunther
Before, I was more into the British/American type of breakfast with sausages, bacon, hash browns and other carbs galore. It didn’t take long before I became a fat and miserable, but somehow I managed to knock some sense into me. I transformed the cow into wow in just a short amount of time. Back to my old body, I intend to keep it that way and sadly had to make some smart choices in the food department.
Muesli or Granola is one of my breakfast staples. It’s easy to make and there are myriad of recipes out there. The homemade variety is way healthier than the ready-made ones since you have complete control of all the ingredients.
In my case, I just mix all the ingredients (shown in the photo) and roast them a bit for around 10-15 minutes in the oven at 200 degrees Celsius.

Voila! Now, I have something for breakfast that would last me like five days!

Enjoying every bit of the muesli/granola while reading a good book during breakfast is the perfect way to start the day for me.
